14 weeks!

14 weeks!

We have had our first ultrasound, heard the heartbeat, and in three weeks we find out the gender! Woo hoo! My belly is popping out like no other. It was kind of worrying to me at first and I thought I was having twins, but alas... I am not. I just pop early. That is what the doctor said at least.

You know what I have noticed more and more lately? I have noticed all of these things I do that are not going to be a good model for my children. I burp, I nag my husband, I eat junk food at odd times of the day, I am an aggressive driver, I let a couple not so nice words leave my mouth when I get frustrated. All of these things need to be refined and stopped so that I can be the best example possible for my family. My husband is so perfect at it already that I have a long way to go to catch up to him. I have a scripture I read every morning before I leave the house to help me with my crazy driving and my short temper: Moroni 7:45:46. If I don't develop Charity, I am NOTHING. I also love the wording from Alma 26:13 "sing redeeming love." I want to feel forgiveness and improvement in my life everyday through the atonement and as a result I will want to sing redeeming love. I know these are some deep thoughts, but preparing to be a parent can do this to you.

The Heartbeat!!!

Yesterday I had my second appointment for my pregnancy. I wasn't sure what was supposed to happen at the second appointment since we already had a full-on ultrasound for my first appointment. I was told it would be a quick weigh-measure-chat-appointment, but when the doctor came in and said, "okay lay back let's get a heartbeat" I was so sad that Rick wasn't there. The doctor proceeded to rub around my stomach to find the heartbeat and found it loud and clear. I was able to get Rick on the phone while he was working and he heard it that way. We were so excited to have confirmation that IT'S ALIVE!!! :)

I have been feeling much better lately now that I am in the second trimester. I have only gained 1 pound during all this and I hope to keep myself healthy and down to the minimum weight gain. The doctor said I am healthy and all tests came back showing I am in great condition! That was so nice to hear.

In 4 weeks we have another ultrasound to see what the gender is. Although the doctor says that it will be an "unofficial gender screening," he tends to be right about 95% of the time. I'm thinking that is a pretty good average he has going. I love my doctor. He is quick and easy and very caring. The facility is so nice and they work with me so well. I am happy that I am going to Lake View!

I don't have a picture that relates to this post, but I do have a picture we took at work today. It's a long story as to why I have this kind of a picture at work, but just trust me... it was all for the sake of a co-worker. I look really deformed because it was taken while I was in the air jumping. My dress makes me look really odd shaped!

Sorry you can see my knee highs... ha ha... I'm a total grandma!

Juvenile delinquents!

Last night Rick and I went for a walk and in the middle of our discussion of what names we would give our own line of sports cars or muscle trucks, I saw something amazing; a large field with sprinklers running!!! This was no ordinary field. This was a GIANT open field with perfectly cut grass and the most beautifully long range sprinklers! It was like a dream. I suddenly told Rick my plan. “Let’s run through the sprinklers!” He immediately started telling me how wet we would get and that we shouldn’t run through that field. It wasn’t our property. But as I crossed the street to get closer to my glory he didn’t hesitate and he even threw caution to the wind. We started sprinting towards the shower of water being sprayed across the green grass! I got so giddy and started screaming as we ran through the sprinklers and even tried to dodge them at one point. We ended our adventure with a giant high 5, held hands, and continued on our walk and our discussion of creative names for cars. Rick said he would name a sports car… The Cheetah! I just laughed!

The First Ultrasound!!

This morning Rick and I went to our prenatal visit. Our doctor was great and did a neat ultrasound. We could see the heart beating and our little baby was moving around like crazy!! I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has allowed us to experience this together. What a magical thing to finally see the baby and know it is healthy and growing and moving around. I can't wait for little Rick Jr. or Lexy Jr. to come out and spend time with us and be a wonderful part of our family!

Harassment at work

There is this great clearance center where you can get cute clothes for super cheap. I was telling my friend at work about it and she decided to go check it out with me. After some digging we found some things we liked. I found one dress that SueAnn convinced me to buy and she had three dresses that she was buying. One of her dresses was just like the one I bought. We were hesitant to get the same dress but did so anyway. As we were driving back to her car we decided we better work out which days we would wear them as to not wear it the same day.
Well, Monday rolled around and sure enough.... we wore the same dress! Not only did we wear the same dress, but that was the day that the entire department gets together for a morning devotional so everyone saw us in our matching outfits. I decided to make it our joke so I went and sat right next to her and laughed with everyone else as they pointed and made comments to us. It was all in good fun and no one's feelings were hurt. At least we work on two different floors so we weren't close to each other throughout the day.

At the end of the day we were on the elevator going down to our cars and people were looking at us out of the corner of their eyes. It was pretty funny.

At least we looked good!!!
